Mission Specialist Mike keeps the band in orbit, the tempo steady, and the beer cold. Rooted in rock, but fluent across genres, Mike thrives on versatility – from tight, minimalist rhythms to explosive, heavy intensity. His playing is defined by musicality first: serving the song, elevating the band, and creating moments the audience long remembers. Mike’s passion for performing live and his undeniable ability pushes Thirsty for Space into the cosmos, whether in a tight cover or extended original jam. Mike is driven by a love for rhythm and a commitment to making every performance hit harder, groove deeper, and sound galactic.
Mike began his percussion journey during his high school years, performing as a lead percussionist in marching and symphonic bands, and local musical orchestras. Mike went on to join the acclaimed Los Angles Pierce College Symphonic Winds where he enjoyed the summer tour life performing across the U.S. and earning recording credits as a percussionist on Stephen Kent Goodman’s “Ragging the Baby To Sleep: Concert Band Ragtime”. Life events pulled Mike away from the performance lifestyle, but COVID “free-time” created the space for him to reconnect with his passions and get back behind the kit.
